Are You Ready For GLEE?!

GLEE

If you talk to any musical comedy lover about what’s happening on television, all you need to do is say one word to elicit gasps of, “OMG – I can’t wait!” What’s the word? GLEE, of course. From Ryan Murphy, the creator of “Nip/Tuck” and “Popular,” GLEE is a one-hour musical comedy that follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the Glee Club and inspire a group of ragtag performers to make it to the biggest competition of all: Nationals.

Broadway’s Matthew Morrison (Hairspray, South Pacific, Light in the Piazza) will play the high school teacher, Will Schuester. Driven by his secret past, Will is determined to do whatever it takes to make Glee great again, even though everyone around him thinks he’s nuts. He’s out to prove them all wrong.

Here are two more reasons to tune in; Kristin Chenoweth and Victor Garber are joining the cast in what will likely turn out to be recurring roles. Rumor has it that Wicked’s original Glinda will play another one of her hilarious characters (think “Pushing Daisies”). Veteran actor Garber will play the father of Glee’s leading man, Matthew Morrison. Tony winner Debra Monk is his mom. Cheyenne Jackson, another Broadway celeb is also scheduled to guest star on the third episode of GLEE. Jackson has been seen in the Broadway shows Xanadu, All Shook Up, Aida, and Altar Boyz. My guess is that we’ll see more triple threats in episodes to come.

Fox will air a special preview of GLEE on May 19 at 9/8c.
