Lost Moon Radio Invades Hollywood Fringe Festival

Lost Moon Radio

If A Prairie Home Companion were hijacked by a bunch of rock stars in space suits telling jokes about the Gettysburg Address, what would happen? Something close to Lost Moon Radio, a unique one-hour collage of sketches, songs and metaphysical ramblings that was named “SHOW OF THE YEAR 2009” by LiveComedyLA.com.

Each episode of Lost Moon Radio is a one-hour “broadcast” from DJ Jupiter Jack, a fried-out remnant of the 1960s who, against all odds, maintains a radio program he claims to transmit from “the Lost Moon of Jupiter”. Audience members watch as Jack spins genre-bending songs and comedic sketches that are performed live by a company of seasoned actors and the show’s house band, The Moon Units. It’s radio reclaimed for the modern era.

Lost Moon Radio was born of the producing efforts of Ryan Harrison, Lauren Ludwig, Rich Ramberg, Dylan Ris, and Frank Smith. They are joined in the company by actors Matt McKenna, Dan Oster, Jen Burton, Martha Marion and Dan Mahoney, as well as musicians Michael Wells and Brenton Kossak. Lost Moon Radio is directed by Lauren Ludwig and Ryan Harrison and stage managed by Monica Miklas. Sets and costumes are designed by Haley Powell.

Company members’ writing and performance credits include Comedy Central, The Daily Show, MAD TV, American Dad, Boom Chicago, The Groundlings, The People’s Improv Theater, Mortified, Dave Eggers’ Wholphin, PBS films, Joe Dante Productions, Naxos Records, Summit Records, the Andy Summers Band, the Orange County Symphony Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, IndieCade, Striking Viking Story Pirates, and needtheater.

Lost Moon Radio runs June 18, 23, 25 and 26 at Fringe Central, Theatre of Arts, 1625 North Las Palmas, Los Angeles, CA 90028. Tickets are $12 and seating is very limited so be sure to reserve ahead of time.
