LOVING REPEATING Cast Announced for ICT
Casting is complete for the West Coast premiere of Loving Repeating: A Musical of Gertrude Stein, directed by caryn desai [sic] at International City Theatre.
Cheryl David (Jewtopia) will star as Gertrude Stein with Shannon Warne (ICT's The Threepenny Opera, Camelot at Pasadena Playhouse) playing “young Gertrude” and Melissa Lyons Caldretti (Les Misérables tour, Jane Eyre at FCLO) as Stein’s lifelong companion, Alice B. Toklas. Also in the cast, playing multiple roles, are Carly Bracco, Leland Burnett, Jay Donnell, Allison Eberly and Tyler Milliron.
The chamber musical, adapted from Stein’s writings by Tony Award winners Stephen Flaherty and Frank Galati, begins previews on January 18. Opening night is January 21, and performances will continue through February 13.
Loving Repeating follows Stein’s life and love as a series of vaudeville acts - with homage to soft-shoe, opera, European cabaret and other exciting period and modern sounds. It’s a perplexing, exhilarating, hilarious and emotionally giddy musical as unique as Stein herself.
