Bob Cratchit & Mr. Tightwad, A New Christmas Musical

Bob Cratchit & Mr. Tightwad, a world premiere engagement of a new musical opens December 9 at Secret Rose Theatre in North Hollywood. Based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, it features book, music & lyrics by Katrina Wood, with an additional song by Cece Whittaker.
Trace Oakley directs a cast that includes Chas Mitchell (as Scrooge), Foster Walker (as Cratchit), Emily Bridges, Jim Cox, Billy Giampaolo, Robert Keasler, Jennifer Potell, Zachary Rice, Athena Rose and Claudia Wit.
Bob Cratchit & Mr. Tightwad is a new telling of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol that mixes the traditional Victorian elements with contemporary allusions (e.g. one of the ghosts is a rock n’ roll Goth girl) to maximize the 19th Century tale’s appeal for 21st Century audiences. Scrooge is still at the center of the action but, as the title implies, his employee Bob Cratchit will be more prominent in this rendition of the narrative. All of the other cherished elements of the story are still there: ghosts, romance, music, family, redemption, generosity, happy endings, and the spirit of the holidays.
