Upcoming March Musical Events

From the studio of Dan Callaway: Dan’s special guest for his March Musical Theatre Workshop is director/choreographer Kirsten Chandler. Kirsten brings years of experience as a working actor to the table and most recently directed a great production of Little Women for the Musical Theatre Guild. The workshop will run Tuesday evenings, March 6, 13, 20, and 27, 7-10 pm at Dan’s studio, 4922 Vineland Ave., NoHo 91601. The cost is $300 and payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. Lucy Goes To A Cabaret is booked at The Gardenia 7066 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood 90038, 1 block east of La Brea on Wednesday March 7th and 14th at 9pm sharp. The I Love Lucy Live On Stage cast and band will be singing and playing standards, pop songs, Beatles, musical songs, with a little bit of good old comedy thrown in. Reservations are strongly suggested by calling 323-467-7444. Cover is $20 with a 2 drink minimum (drinks waived if you have dinner.) 

Join Rick Starr and musical director Michael Lavine on March 25 at 5:00 pm at the elegant Fraser/Cohn Manse in Studio City for a night to benefit The Actors Fund in Rick’s Pix: Make Someone Happy, the happy songs of Jule Styne. The evening will include Styne’s melodies set by such theatre, film & pop poet laureates as Bob Merrill, Comden & Green, Sammy Cahn, and Bob Hilliard. Artists scheduled to perform include Barbara Deutsch, David Zack, Eydie Alyson, Barbara Minkus, Josh Finkel, Carol Arthur Deluise, Ilene Graff, Ben Lanzarone, Dianne Fraser, Rosemary Tarquinio, Linda Purl, Gina Zollman, John Sawoski, Julie Garnye, Michael Lavine, Rick Starr and some very special guests. Valley Performing Arts Center has announced its 2012-2013 season that includes a Broadway and American Songs series and Theatre series. Artists scheduled to appear include Kelli O’Hara, Nathan Gunn and Ted Sperling on Oct. 22; Joan Osborne in Love and Hate, Nov. 3; Raul Esparza singing Sondheim, Nov. 17; Bebe Neuwirth in Stories With Piano, Feb. 23; and Michael Feinstein on May 11. The Theatre series also brings The Acting Company’s Of Mice and Men on Oct. 27 and The Aquila Theatre’s presentation of Cyrano de Bergerac on March 16 to the newly remodeled Plaza del Sol Performance Hall on the California State University, Northridge campus. presents Winter's Thaw, A Benefit Concert for Elizabeth House on Sunday, March 11, 7:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1757 N. Lake Avenue, Pasadena 91104. A mesmerizing and ethereal musical, literary and visual journey from the icy shroud of Winter to the warm rebirth of Spring, Winter’s Thaw, is a multimedia concert weaving literary, musical and visual arts to feature music written by composers including Eric Whitacre, David Downs, Carole Bayer-Sager, and Ennio Morricone and made famous by such renowned artists as Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion, Celtic Women, Sarah Brightman, Sissel, and King’s Singers.
