Upcoming Southern California Musical Events

A limited engagement of Miss Saigon will play the Fox Performing Arts Center for three performances Friday, May 11 at 8pm and Saturday May 12 at 2pm & 8pm. This new production will be choreographed by Dana Solimando, musical directed by John Glaudini and directed by Brian Kite. The cast of 25 will include Jacqueline Nguyen as Kim, Kevin Odekirk as Chris, Joseph A. Foronda as the Engineer, Aidan Park as Thuy, Lawrence Cummings as John, Cassandra Murphy as Ellen, April Malina as Gigi. Fox Performing Arts Center is located at 3801 Mission Inn Avenue in Riverside. Casting has been announced for Upright Cabaret’s American Icon Series Rhythm of the Night, to be presented at three different Southern California venues: Palm Spring’s Annenberg Theater April 27 at 8 PM; La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts April 29 at 7:30 PM; and LA’s Catalina Jazz Club on May 6 at 7:30 PM. The cast features Lesli Margherita, David Hernandez, Lexi Lawson and Rogelio Douglas, Jr. performing the music of Gloria Estefan, Santana, and Ricky Martin. The Ojai Playwrights Conference has announced additional stars to its 15th Anniversary Season Gala Benefit, Body and Soul: An OPC Cabaret - A Musical and Theatrical Celebration of the Mystery, Magnificence and Madness of Living. Scheduled for Sat. April 28, the benefit begins at 5:30 PM at Ojai’s Matilija Auditorium with a dramatic and musical event created especially for this evening by OPC Artistic Director and Producer Robert Egan. The evening will honor playwright Bill Cain and OPC Board Member and actress Dana Delany. The all-star cast for the Benefit now includes Davis Gaines, Andrea Marcovicci, Marcia Gay Harden, Patrick J. Adams, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman, Zachary Quinto, Noah Wyle, and others.

Following the show, the festivities continue with the cast at St. Thomas Aquinas Hall with music, martinis, a gourmet dinner prepared by acclaimed chef Michael Hollingsworth, and a live auction featuring fabulous trips and entertainment packages.  Comedian Conan O’Brien will be one of the celebrity guest auctioneers at the dinner and auction.
