The Andrews Brothers Cast Set For Cabrillo Music Theatre
Music meets mayhem when Stan Chandler, David Engel, Larry Raben and Darcie Roberts bring to life the new 1940s musical The Andrews Brothers for Cabrillo Music Theatre. Nick DeGruccio directs the foursome. Musical direction is by Lloyd Cooper and choreography by Roger Castellano. It’s 1945, and, on a South Pacific island, a U.S.O. show is threatened with cancellation when a certain famous trio of singing sisters fails to show up. It’s up to three earnest and determined brothers to go on with the show! The Andrews Brothers is filled with more than twenty-five songs made famous by the Andrews Sisters like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Slow Boat To China,” Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” and “Ac-cent-u-ate the Positive.”
The songs are framed with a laugh-filled book by Roger Bean, creator of the long-running Off-Broadway and Los Angeles hit, The Marvelous Wonderettes. The new story and familiar songs combine to create a brand-new theatre confection.
Recommended for all audiences, The Andrews Brothers will open on Friday, February 5 and run through February 14 at the Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. A post-show discussion with cast, staff and audience will follow the Saturday, February 6th, 2:00pm performance.
