Benjamin and Judah: A Chanukah Musical comes to Thousand Oaks

Temple Adat Elohim proudly presents Benjamin and Judah: A Chanukah Musical by David Shukiar at the Janet and Ray Scherr Forum Theater Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Featuring a cast of almost 100 with 48 children and 3 tap dancing clergy, it also includes one hearing impaired rabbi who learned to tap dance just for the show. Now that’s dedication!

Follow Benjamin on a journey of music, dance and drama that leads to his discovery of the true meaning of Chanukah. David Shukiar, an award winning, nationally recognized composer of Jewish music and musical theatre, creates this unique musical that documents the story of Chanukah through the eyes of Benjamin, a 13 year old boy who is teased at school because he is Jewish. Through a dream that transforms him into Judah Macabee, he relives the dramatic story of the first fight for religious freedom and regains a sense of self-confidence and a renewed faith in Judaism.

Described by the Jewish Journal of San Diego as the “Chanukah event we have been waiting for” this uplifting musical is an unforgettable Chanukah experience for the entire family.

Benjamin and Judah: A Chanukah Musical will run for three performances Saturday, December 10 at 7:00 pm, and Sunday, December 11 at 2:30 and 7:00 pm. Ticket prices are $22 and $36 and are available HERE or at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza box office.
