The Kid With the Keys
Sterling’s Upstairs at The Federal welcomes television and LA Ovation Award nominated theatre composer and performer
Brett Ryback in the premiere of The Kid with The Keys Sunday, September 16, 2012. Ryback promises an elegant night of troublemaking, immaturity, and kid-play featuring music from the Millennial Generation of composers including Joe Iconis, Ryan Scott Oliver, Daniel Maté and, of course, Ryback himself. Mike Sawitzke (from indie band The EELS) will play guitar; and Max Mueller joins on cello for a show that explores prepubescent awkwardness through songs, anecdotes, and the uncorrected lyrics of grade schoolers who know a lot about life, love, and Unicorns - even if they can't quite spell. For more information about the artist, please visit www.brettryback.comFor ticket prices and further details visit www.msapr.net. Reservations can be made by calling (818) 754-8700. Sterling’s Upstairs at the Federal is located at 5303 Lankershim Blvd. North Hollywood, CA 91601. Valet Parking is available directly behind the Federal ($3.50 with validation) and street parking is also available.

Room 105 - Macha Theatre
Acclaimed filmmaker Gigi Gaston’s Room 105, a new musical show starring Grammy-nominated Sophie B. Hawkins, is a thoughtful and entertaining tribute to legendary soul singer Janis Joplin. The show is a modern-day retrospective on Joplin’s turbulent life, telling a story that reveals the iconic singer’s thoughts on love, sex, fame and belonging. It will premiere on October 4, the anniversary of Janis Joplin’s death, at the Macha Theatre -- blocks away from Barney’s Beanery where she had her last drink before her untimely death, joining the infamous 27 club. Showcasing classic Joplin music and original songs by Sophie B. Hawkins, Room 105 brings this transformative counterculture figure to life with realistic imagery and dramatic stage elements. Previews are Oct. 4 & 5, with opening night on Oct. 6th. Performances will continue through October 21st at Macha Theatre, 1107 N. Kings Road, West Hollywood, CA. 90069.
