Justin Love Extends
David Elzer’s popular new musical, Justin Love has been extended at Celebration Theatre and will now run through Sunday, December 16. Directed by Michael Matthews, with choreography by Janet Roston and musical direction by Gregory Nabours, it features book by Patricia Cotter and David Elzer, story by David Elzer & Bret Calder, music by Lori Scarlett & David Manning, and lyrics by Lori Scarlett. The Beat Goes On! Extends
Rockin’ with the Ages and The Pink Lady have announced that the world premiere of The Beat Goes On! is extending through Sunday, November 25 at Theatre of Arts - Arena Stage in Hollywood. Written, directed and choreographed by Cate Caplin, and featuring musical direction by David O., it is an all-singing, all-dancing musical extravaganza starring a generation that is not afraid to get up, get out and get a life. Men Alive and LIZA!
To kick-off its star-filled 12th Season, Men Alive – The Orange County Gay Men’s Chorus will welcome a very special guest star: the legendary Liza Minnelli in A Winter Spectacular – an evening of Broadway hits, Pop Standards, and Holiday Music! This concert, presented at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, marks her first appearance in Orange County, CA in almost twenty years. For the 2-night event, December 13 and 14, Ms. Minnelli will do a full signature set accompanied by her own band (led by musical director Billy Stritch), and will also be collaborating with the chorus on some special select numbers. Once Upon a Mattress
Morgan-Wixson Theatre presents its 17th annual youth musical, Once Upon a Mattress, Nov. 10 – Dec. 15, Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. Based on the fairytale The Princess and the Pea, it features music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and book by Jay Thompson, Marshall Barer and Dean Fuller. Produced by Mary Beth Sciarabba & Tracy Saltzman, it will be directed/musical directed by Anne Gesling and choreographed by Jonathon Saia. Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic tale of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Cinderella’s Christmas
Renowned jazz vocalist Jane Fuller stars in the title role of Cinderella’s Christmas, a new interactive Christmas edition of the classic musical that features her original songs Nov. 24 – Dec. 22, Saturdays at 11:00 am. Book is by June Chandler, with music and lyrics by Jane Fuller. It is directed by June Chandler and presented by June Chandler’s Fairy Tale Theatre. The cast includes Fuller, along with Abraham Luna, Ron Johnston, Shirley McConnell, Jane Park, Hal Sweesy, Guy Crawford, Donna Ieraci, Dean Darakorn, Susan Harmon, Ian Dawson, Deanna O’Brien and Jonica Patella. A Mulholland Christmas Carol
Theatre of NOTE caps off its 2012 season with the 10th Anniversary production of A Mulholland Christmas Carol, written by Bill Robens and directed by Alina Phelan. AMCC tells the story of the birth of Los Angeles by casting water baron William Mulholland in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in a California-set Christmas Carol. The musical rendition of the LA water wars with Owens Valley mixes harmonies, history and humor, and will provide an acoustical, bluegrass take on the music. The show runs Nov. 28 – Dec. 23 with an official opening on Friday, Nov. 30 at 8pm.

There will also be two special performances, sponsored by the Metabolic Studios and hosted by the Friends of Inyo, at Bishop Union High School, 301 North Fowler Street, Bishop, CA 93514 on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 8pm, and Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2pm. Regular performances take place at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N. Cahuenga Blvd. (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood. The cast features Gene Michael Barrera, Steven Biggs, Christine Breihan, Linda Graves, Lucy Griffin-Nemeth, David Guerra, Brad C. Light, Patrick McGowan, Scott McKinley, Christopher Neiman, Lynn Odell, Trevor H. Olsen, Rebecca Sigl, Stephen Simon, Kirsten Vangsness, Lauren Dobbins Webb, and Dan Wingard.
