Avenue Q on Tour
The Avenue Q national tour is coming to southern California this week, opening at the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center January 19 and running through January 24. The smash-hit Broadway musical about real life in New York City is told by a cast of people and puppets through a hilariously irreverent, Tony Award winning book and score by Robert Lopez, Jeff Marx and Jeff Whitty.
It’s the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who moves to NYC with big dreams and a tiny bank account. The only apartment he can afford is way out on Avenue Q, where everyone’s looking for the same things he is: a decent job, a stable relationship, and a “purpose.” Eventually, Princeton learns to embrace the ups and downs of city life and realizes that “the real world” isn't so bad, after all.
The cast of the touring company features Brent Michael DiRoma (Princeton & Rod), Jacqueline Grabois (Kate Monster, Lucy), Jason Heymann (Nicky, Trekkie Monster, Bear), Tim Kornblum, (Brian), Lisa Helmi Johanson (Christmas Eve), Kerri Bracken (Mrs. T, Bear), Nigel Jamaal Clark (Gary Coleman) and additional ensemble members Charles M. Baskerville, Ashley Eileen Bucknam, Joshua Holden, Julianna Lee and Zach Trimmer.
Avenue Q will play the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Performing Arts Center January 19-24. Tickets are available at the box office, all Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.theatreleague.com.
