MTG Announces Casting for 70, Girls, 70


Musical Theatre Guild announces casting for its first musical of the 2010-2011 season, Kander & Ebb’s 70, Girls, 70. The show, which plays Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale and Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, will star MTG members Chuck Bergman, Christopher Callen, Helen Geller, Pamela Hamill, David Holmes, S. Marc Jordan, Paul Keith, Marsha Kramer, Michael Sheppard and Susan Watson. Joining them will be guest artists Sylvia Macalla, Erik McEwan and Barbara Minkus. Steven Smith will musical direct.

Based on the play Breath of Spring by Peter Coke and adapted by Joe Masteroff, 70, Girls, 70 is about the residents of a senior citizens’ hotel who become shoplifters to buy the building before it is sold to developers. It features a honky tonk vaudeville score that include favorites like “Coffee in a Cardboard Cup,” “Home,” and “Broadway My Street.”
