Manson's Girls, West Side Story, and Gina Mora's Sweethearts & Singletons


The Coterie is proud to present Gia Mora's Sweethearts & Singletons July 7 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. Mora turns her wit and intellectual prowess on an unlikely pairing of human languages -- math and love. In her hilarious new cabaret, she explores love in the digital age on a journey to the edges of the universe and the interior of your heart. A new rock musical, Manson's Girls, based on the true story of Charles Manson killings will be presented as a staged concert reading at the NoHo Arts Center July 30-31 and August 6-7. The musical traces the storylines of a half-dozen of the young women who were involved with the Sharon Tate and LaBianca murders in August, 1969. In it, Linda Kasabian joins the Manson Family and transforms from a wide-eyed young runaway from New Hampshire to one of Manson's Girls, capable of committing murder 35 days later.

Manson's Girls was developed by ANMT in partnership with the Department of Drama at University of California Irvine and will feature a cast of ten music directed by Dr. Gary Busby and directed by Little Fish Theatre's Stephanie Coltrin. The Grove Theatre in Upland has announced that West Side Story will open July 13. An award winning adaptation of the classic romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, it is a triumphant legend where love transcends language, time and place. Dueling families are two warring New York gangs – the Jets and the Sharks, whose hatred escalates to a point where neither can coexist. But when Tony, a former Jet, meets Maria, the younger sister of a Shark, no one can do anything to stop their love. West side Story runs July 13 - 29. Evening performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:29 pm and matinee performances are on Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $25 and $20.
