Winter Wonderettes
La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment bring you the most “Wonder”ful holiday treat of the season with Winter Wonderettes, created and directed by Roger Bean, with choreography by John Vaughan and musical direction by Brian Baker. It’s Christmas and the ladies are entertaining at the annual Harper’s Hardware Holiday Party. When Santa turns up missing, the girls must use their talent and creative ingenuity, plus some great holiday tunes such as “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Run, Rudolph, Run,” “Winter Wonderland” and 20 other seasonal favorites, to save their holiday party. The result is, of course, marvelous! This energetic and entertaining show is guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages. The cast includes three of the four original Los Angeles Wonderettes - Misty Cotton, Julie Dixon Jackson, Bets Malone - and making her Wonderette debut - Shannon Warne. Donny and Marie - Christmas in Los Angeles
In the holiday tradition of the “Osmond Family Christmas” television specials, the legendary Donny and Marie invite you to celebrate the joy of the season in true Osmond fashion with them at the Pantages Theatre Dec. 4 – 23. With a dash of Christmas spirit and the entertainers’ trademark show-stopping production numbers, the show features Christmas songs and cheer plus hits from their illustrious careers, transporting audiences into a heartfelt nostalgic journey that will create present-day holiday memories to last a lifetime. The Jane Fuller Arctic Express
The Jane Fuller Arctic Express stops at Sierra Madre Playhouse on December 9. Jane Fuller, a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Sierra Madre has developed a following at clubs throughout Southern California for her distinctive sound, a blend that she has called “jazz-inflected pop.” On Dec. 9 at 7pm she brings her one-woman Christmas show to the Sierra Madre Playhouse. The program of songs and storytelling will carry you through wild, wacky warm-hearted stops on a journey directly to St. Nick’s house! The price of admission also includes a copy of her Christmas CD, “The Spirit of Giving,” which features ten original songs and four Christmas classics. Room 105: The Highs and Lows of Janis Joplin
Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins channels Janis Joplin in this raucous new rock ‘n roll musical retrospective on Joplin’s turbulent life. Compared to Joplin ever since her own fast rise to stardom with the hit song “Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover,” Hawkins brings the iconic singer’s music to life, including “Down on Me,” “Piece of My Heart” and “Me and Bobby McGee.” The four-piece band is headed by two-time Grammy Award-winning music producer Josh Sklair on guitar. Sold out for its initial four-week run, Room 105 extends through Dec. 30 at Macha Theatre in West Hollywood in advance of a 2013 tour. Mel Brooks Strikes Back!


Mel Brooks looks back on his remarkable career in Mel Brooks Strikes Back!, debuting Monday, Dec. 10th (9:00 – 10:00 pm ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Appearing onstage with Alan Yentob, at the Geffen Theater in Westwood before a live audience, Brooks reviews his career as a writer, director, actor, producer, composer, failed ballet dancer and comedian. The special looks at his early life, show-business influences, early career and ascension as one of Hollywood’s most successful writers and directors and will features clips from some of his classic movies and TV work. He also takes questions from the audience. Mel Brooks is best known to musical theatre audiences for his Tony Award-winning musicals The Producers, which received a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards and Young Frankenstein. Additional HBO playdate for Mel Brooks Strikes Back! are Dec. 13, 15, 18, 21, 23 and 25. HBO2 playdate: Dec. 27.
