What's Happening Around Town for May 2, 2013
Song Interpretation with Betty Buckley
Tony Award Winner and legendary Broadway star Betty Buckley will offer her Song Interpretation & Monologue Workshop this Summer in Los Angeles, June 28 – July 2. The workshop includes high school age, amateur and professional singers and actors. Auditors are welcome at a reduced fee and will participate in the group exercises. Full participants will also do one on one work with Buckley directing their songs or monologues. Buckley shares her expertise and guides her students through a methodology that facilitates audience connection through songs and monologues. Her emotional connection to songs and audiences is renowned, and that very connection is at the heart of what Ms. Buckley imparts to her students. Contact Thom Fennessey at info@collaborationfactory.com or 323-651-2400 for more information and to register.
During May, we will build on the dance foundation we began in April, with a full dance experience taking you from the first dance call, through rehearsal, and then to the performance. Broadway dance captain and performer Angel Creeks will teach you the skills you need for every aspect of the process. You’ll learn how to train your brain and body to pick up choreography quickly; know what choreographers are looking for; how to sell an imperfectly danced combination; dance etiquette for the audition and rehearsal environments, and concrete tools for how you can actually enjoy yourself. This workshop is for dancers of all skill levels, featuring two ensemble numbers with original Broadway choreography. The month will end with a small showcase for friends and kind-hearted industry folk.
