Interact's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Interact Theatre Company proudly presents the Tony award-winning musical by David Yazbeck and Jeffrey Lane, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, directed by Richard Israel, with musical direction by Johanna Kent and choreography by Tracy Powell. The show will open February 12 and run through March 21. Preview performances are February 9-11.
Leading the cast are Chip Phillips as Lawrence Jameson and Matthew Wolpe as Freddy Benson. Kelly Lohman will play “Soap Queen” Christine Colgate, Michael Manuel is Andre Thibault, Susan Hull is Muriel Eubanks and Tracy Powell plays Jolene Oakes. Rounding out the ensemble are Steven Connor, James Cooper, Ellen Dostal, Marc Fellner Erez, Jessica Evans, Robert Evans, Melanie Rockwell and Sara Stuckey.
The story follows a mismatched pair of con artists as they swindle the well-to-do women of the French Riviera. When it becomes apparent that the Côte d’Azur isn’t big enough for the both of them, they make a winner-take-all wager: the first to “clean out” the fortune of a naïve American heiress will have the Riviera - and its unsuspecting tourists - all to himself. You’re in for a hilarious rollercoaster ride full of twists, turns and tricks as each scoundrel tries to out-con the other.
According to Interact President Amanda Troop, “we chose Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as part of our season because it’s a fresh and fun musical, and because we felt it would showcase Interact’s talents really well. I think we have a fantastic cast and crew assembled, and DRS will be a great way to reintroduce ourselves into the NoHo community.” Interact Theatre Company is now a company in residence at The NoHo Arts Center, 11136 Magnolia Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91601.
Producing DRS for Interact is Carla Barnett. The design team consists of Rob Corn (Set), Carol Doehring (Lighting), Meagan Evers (Costumes) and Matt Richter (Sound). Faryl Saar is Stage Manager.
