The Broad Holiday Sing-AlongJudith Owen & Harry Shearer are back at The Broad Stage for their annual Holiday Sing-Along on Friday December 16 at 7:30 pm. Join singer/songwriter Owen and her husband Shearer (KCRW’s Le Show, The Simpsons) for their family-friendly holiday debauch, which is sure to offer up a who’s-who of local faves and quirky guests. Or you can take in a performance of Cool Yule –The Manhattan Transfer Swings the Holidays on December 17 and 18, also at The Broad. How better to celebrate the season than with the uplifting pop sounds of The Manhattan Transfer? 4 Lads From Liverpool at The Grove Theatre
4 Lads from Liverpool, a musical tribute to the Beatles, is performing At The Grove Theatre in Upland on New Years’ Eve at 9:00 pm. The performance includes songs from each of their major musical periods, and opens with a set of songs from the early Hamburg days with the Beatles dressed in their black leather jackets and pants. John (Peter George) sings lead on the opening song, "Rock and Roll Music" wearing a toilet seat around his head!
They also show fantastic clips from the old 60s shows and commercials to set the mood. From Hamburg to the Cavern Club in Liverpool, to their first performance on the Ed Sullivan show to the Shea Stadium concert, you’ll see it all. Doors open at 8:30 pm. Terron Brooks & Kamilah Marshall’s Holidaze Harmony. The Black Donny and Marie are back again with a Holiday Show that is sure to leave you in the Spirit! Terron Brooks (NBC mini-series The Temptations and Disney's The Lion King) and Kamilah Marshall (One of Bette Midler's Harlette's and Broadway's Hairspray) come together for the 5th year in a row to sing all your favorite holiday songs with a twist. Show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $5-20.
Friday & Saturday, December 16 & 17
James Barbour: The Holiday Concert. The Coterie is proud to present Broadway star and Drama Desk nominated actor James Barbour in the Los Angeles engagement of his fourth annual holiday concert tour. Barbour's regular holiday concerts have become part of the entertainment landscape around the country and each one features special surprise guest stars and a program of the most exhilarating songs in the American Song Book. 8:30pm. Tickets are $10-35.
Sunday, December 18
When You Wish Upon a Star. An intimate concert event featuring music from everyone's favorite classic family films, performed by actors from film, animation, and Broadway. Cast TBA. A large portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to a children’s philanthropy of the cast’s choice. Show starts at 7pm. Tickets are $5-30. Free Music Center Holiday Sing-Along
Celebrate the magic of the season at the annual Music Center Holiday Sing-Along on December 16, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the Music Center Plaza. Sing along to all your holiday favorites amidst the cool wintry skies and festive twinkling lights. There will be live musical accompaniment and lyric sheets are provided. No experience is necessary, just come prepared to sing! Tickets are required and distributed beginning at 6:00 pm while supplies last. One ticket per person to those waiting in line. Amahl and the Night Visitors
And if you have an hour to spare to enjoy a holiday classic, come to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Studio City and see Gian Carlo Menotti's beautiful operetta, Amahl and the Night Visitors Friday, December 16th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $15 or 2 for $25 and children 10 and under are FREE. There will also be a free reception and refreshments following the performance.
