Updates and the Watch List

I’ve got an update on casting from my previous post about The Water. Michael Arden has been called away to New York for a last minute gig, so replacing him in the role of Sandy will be Chris Warren Gilbert (Beauty & the Beast). See you at The Colony Theater in Burbank April 27 at 7:30 pm!

Set Up and Punch

Heads up for shows on the watch list: Setup & Punch is opening May 9 at The Blank Theatre in Hollywood. It’s the story of a clever songwriting duo’s promising relationship that is blown to bits when they must collaborate with the sex-god singer-composer of a cutting edge rock band. Love gets sung in the wrong key, proving the old adage: there are two sides to every triangle. This comedic, touching play will keep you laughing as you ride the groove of original songs by rockers Berton Averre and Rob Meurer.

Crowns

Ebony Repertory Theatre and Pasadena Playhouse will co-produce the Los Angeles premiere of Regina Taylor’s musical Crowns, to play the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center May 5- June 14, followed by a Pasadena Playhouse engagement July 10-August 23. Based on the acclaimed coffee table book, Crowns captures the thrill of self-expression with a series of intimate musical portraits.

Linda Eder

You can also catch Linda Eder performing in concert at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills at 8pm on Thursday, May 14. Eder recently released her 10th CD, "The Other Side of Me". Her theater credits include Jekyll & Hyde and Camille Claudel.

Brian Stokes Mitchell

Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will perform classics and highlights from his career as one of Broadway’s foremost leading men in a one-night-only special performance at the Freud Playhouse on May 11. Tickets are on sale now at http://www.reprise.org/.
