Sacred Fools 14th Season Gets Underway

Sacred Fools

Sacred Fools Theatre Company opens its 14th season with four world premieres (two of them musical) and a classic, beginning with Don Giovanni Tonight, Don Carlo Tomorrow September 17 - October 24, 2010, written by Dennis Miles and directed by company member Kiff Scholl.

Backstage at a regional opera house, the chorus awaits their (brief) moment in the spotlight as they preen and pontificate, bicker and brag, and face the unpredictable reality of life in a post 9-11 America. A true ensemble piece with 16 actors on stage for almost the entire play (and a new celebrity guest cameo every week), this is an unconventionally non-narrative peek inside the backstage lives of wanna-be artistes as they are forced to confront the meanings of their lives, and their future itself.

Watson, written and directed by company member Jaime Robledo, will run November 5 - December 11, 2010. This hilarious and theatrically creative take on the story of Sherlock Holmes, has been developed and supported over the course of the year in Sacred Fools’ hit late-night show Serial Killers.

Beginning 2011 is Puzzler, January 21 - February 19, 2011, a gritty film noir tale about East German spies, the reconstruction of memory, and the loyalty of undying love; written and directed by company member Padraic Duffy.

Samuel Beckett’s Endgame is up next, March 18 -April 23, 2011. Helmed by founding company member and veteran director Paul Plunkett, Endgame is Samuel Beckett's hilariously disturbing and heartbreaking one-act play about life at the end; a dark, comedic, and touching contemporary classic.

Closing out the season is the new nightmarish horror rock musical Carnevil, May 20 - June 25. The Farinelli family has run old Carnival Farinelli for generations; when an economic crisis threatens to shut it down, they face their darkest secrets and put their trust in a mysterious stranger to keep the show alive. Carnevil was also developed in last season’s Serial Killers by company members Joe Fria and Michael Teoli, and will be directed by Ken Roht.

And don’t forget Sacred Fools is throwing a fundraiser party tomorrow night August 28th, 7:30pm – midnight at the theatre to celebrate the new season: $15 gets you in the door (plus 5 carnie tickets) for the one-night-only creepy carnival. Carnival Games – Prizes – Debauchery – Foodstuffs – Poker…You can even dunk your favorite (or least favorite?) fool in the Dunk Tank.
