West Side Story is Back
West Side Story, the hit Broadway musical by Arthur Laurents (book), Leonard Bernstein (music) and Stephen Sondheim (lyrics), returns to the Pantages Theatre for one week only April 9 – 14. Based on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, it tells the story of star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria as they struggle to rise above the hatred and intolerance that surrounds them. The Bernstein and Sondheim score is considered to be one of Broadway’s finest and features such classics of the American musical theatre as “Something’s Coming,” “Tonight,” “America,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Somewhere.” West Side Story will feature Addison Reid Coe as Tony, Mary Joanna Grisso as Maria, Michelle Alves as Anita, Theo Lencicki as Riff and Andrés Acosta as Bernardo. Got Musical! at the Colony Theatre

Featured writers include Matthew Alexander, Adrian Bewley, Richard Castle, Richard deRosa, Eric Dodson, Placido Domingo, Jr., Noelle Donfeld, Evelina Fernandez, Alan Ross Fleishmann, Mitchell Glaser, Brian Graden, Scott Guy, David Haworth, Morgan Hollingsworth, Carl Johnson, Karla Kelly, Brian Leader, Matthew Levine, Roger Love, Ann McNamee, Charles Monaghan, Cindy O’Connor, Ken Offricht, Marian Partee, Richard Plotkin, Eric Przytulski, Carl Ritchie, Jan Roper, Robert Rosen, Rosino Serrano, Robin Share, Clifford Tasner, Gabrielle Wagner Mann, Julie Weiner, Chana Wise, and Clay Zambo. Jerry Herman High School Musical Theatre Awards
The Pantages Theatre invites your school to participate in the second annual Jerry Herman High School Musical Theatre Awards to be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013. The Awards are a local celebration dedicated to recognizing , encouraging, and rewarding achievements and excellence in high school musical theatre. This program honors individual artistry in vocal, dance and acting performance, as well as acknowledging teachers and their schools’ commitment to excellence in performing arts education.
