Casting News

Hedy Burress, PJ Griffiths, and Andrew Leeds will star in the Blank Theatre Company's world premiere of Setup & Punch, which previews on May 9 and officially opens on May 14. It’s written by Mark Saltzman with original songs by Berton Averre (lead guitarist and co-writer of the rock group, The Knack) and Rob Meurer (noted arranger and composer) and will be directed by Daniel Henning.

Burress is best known for her TV work, which includes Boston Commons and Gideon’s Crossing. Griffith's stage credits include Mamma Mia! and The Who’s Tommy. Leeds’ stage credits include Falsettos and Les Miserables.

Setup & Punch follows a pair of clever Broadway songwriters whose promising relationship is blown to bits when they must collaborator with the sexy lead singer of a cutting-edge rock band.

Fellowship!, a musical parody of “The Fellowship of the Ring” comes to the Falcon Theatre in Toluca Lake June 4 – July 12. The entire original cast from the award-winning 2005 production of this Broadway style musical is returning for the Falcon Run, including Brian D. Bradley, Lisa Fredrickson, Kelly Holden-Bashar, Edi Patterson, Steve Purnick, Cory Rouse, Ryan Smith, Peter Allen Vogt, and Matthew Stephen Young.

Fellowship! features twelve original songs, from the over-the-top opening number with barefooted tap-dancing hobbits, to an elf-on-human ‘80s power ballad with a live guitar solo performed by the rightful heir of Gondor. Book is by Kelly Holden-Bashar and Joel McCrary with music by Allen Simpson and lyrics by the company. McCrary also directs.

By George Productions has announced cast and creative team information for the L.A. premiere of Cole Porter’s 1936 musical, Red, Hot and Blue to play the Whitefire Theatre, May 29-July 5. Joe Joyce will direct and choreograph and Brian O’Halloran is musical director.

The cast will include Nadia Ahern, Tiffanny-Marie Austin, Robyn S. Clark, Christina Dohmen, Richard Horvitz, Kyle Nudo, Sandra Purpuro, Matthew Reis, Nikki Tomlinson, Tom Walz, and Allyson Turner as “Nails” O'Reilly Duquesne.

The Depression-era screwball comedy deals with a National Lottery offering a first prize to anyone who finds a long-lost love with a rare identification mark.
